About

Vaishnavi jumped into the world of visual arts at an early age, and was keen on exploring different media. This included acrylic, watercolour, coloured pencil and even charcoal. By pursuing an Art Minor at Macalester College, she continued her formal art education where her coursework exposed her to wood and metal working, oil painting and colour theory.

At first she began with still-life set ups, with the goal of “realism”. Although she still seeks inspiration from real people and objects in the world around her, over time her interests have shifted. In more recent works she seeks to express emotions, characters and impressions, rather than to paint realistically.

Although she is pursuing a career in Neuroscience, Art has been her haven and hobby. In the future, Vaishnavi hopes explore the dynamics of light and colour using a range of media. But more fundamentally, she hopes to sustain the practice of making art.
